Why we exist
Arkansas is home to over 23,000 cattle farms and ranks 11th in the nation for cow-herd population. Even more remarkable, 97% of these farms are family-owned and operated. The state’s cattle industry is made up of countless small, closely managed farms, with hundreds of lush grassy hillsides and valleys dotted with premium-quality cow-calf operations. Arkansas stands out as a model of resilient and sustainable beef production.
It was with this in mind that we founded Natural State Beef in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our company, 100% Arkansas family-owned and operated, was established with a single goal: to create opportunities for Arkansas’ small and medium-sized independent cattle farmers—these farmers are traditionally excluded from larger markets such as retail, restaurants, and institutions.
As lifelong Arkansas cattle producers ourselves, we understand the challenges small farmers face in gaining access to these markets. Over the past four years, we’ve celebrated many successes, and we remain ambitious as we continue to expand our efforts and strengthen Arkansas’ beef cattle industry.
